About Isaac: Isaac N. Abshire Jr. (January 6, 1923 – May 17, 2014) was a 91-year-old resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received the Bronze Star before being honorably discharged in 1951. He worked for 33 years as an A Operator with City Service and was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. He is historically significant for his role as a key witness in the murder trial of serial killer suspect Felix Vail. Abshire provided videotaped testimony regarding the 1962 death of Vail’s wife, Mary, asserting that her drowning was a homicide rather than an accident, citing evidence such as a knot in her scarf and signs of rigor mortis. Although he passed away in May 2014, his recorded testimony was scheduled to be used in Vail’s trial the following year.
